Our Civil Litigation Process
1. Initial Consultation
In our first meeting, we’ll discuss your case in detail, listen to your concerns, and answer any questions. This is an opportunity to understand your options and the best way forward.
2. Case Evaluation and Strategy
After assessing the facts, we will provide an honest evaluation of your case, outlining possible outcomes. We then craft a legal strategy tailored to your objectives, ensuring transparency at each step.
3. Pre-Litigation Negotiation
Often, disputes can be settled without going to court. We begin by exploring negotiation or mediation options, aiming to achieve a favourable result quickly and cost-effectively. If a solution is reached, it can save time and resources.
4. Filing the Claim or Response
5. Discovery and Gathering Evidence
In this phase, both parties gather relevant information, witness statements, and other evidence. We work diligently to ensure every aspect of your case is well-prepared for any challenges that may arise.
6. Court Hearings and Trial Preparation
7. Resolution or Verdict
Whether through a court decision or final settlement, we’ll guide you through the conclusion of your case, ensuring you understand the outcome and any steps that may follow.
Fee Arrangement Types
We believe in transparency when it comes to our fees. Our pricing is competitive, and we offer flexible fee arrangements tailored to your needs. We are happy to discuss the fee arrangement that works best for your situation during an initial consultation.
Standard Hourly Rate
For cases requiring tailored solutions, we charge an hourly rate that reflects the complexity of your case, the experience level of the solicitor and the urgency of the matter. Our hourly rates generally range from £200 to £400 per hour, plus VAT.
Fixed or Flat Fee Arrangements
For certain straightforward and predictable matters where work and outcomes are clearly defined, such as debt recovery or uncontested contract claims, we offer fixed or flat fee arrangements, giving you certainty on costs upfront.
No Win. No Fee.
For cases with high prospects of success, we may offer a Conditional Fee Arrangement (CFA), also known as a 'no win, no fee' agreement. This helps clients manage litigation costs by sharing the risk involved.
Retainer Arrangements
For clients requiring ongoing support, we offer retainer agreements at a discounted rate. This involves a monthly or annual fee for immediate priority access to legal support whenever you need it, and is most suitable for businesses that need frequent legal input
Capped Fees
For cases where clients seek predictability without a fully fixed fee, capped fees set a maximum amount that won’t be exceeded. This arrangement is common in complex but scoped cases, balancing cost predictability with flexible billing.
Deferred Payments
Deferred payment allows clients to pay fees after a case concludes, often if the client lacks immediate funds but expects financial gain (e.g. in certain commercial claims). This option is common in high-stakes commercial litigation where both parties agree on deferred terms.
